This project involved the construction of a new S278 bellmouth entrance to a new development site and included the removal of a bus layby, footpath realignment, new kerb line, HV& LC service diversions and new drainage connections and MH’s. The works were particularly challenging due to the amount of existing live services within the footpath outside of the site which required careful excavation to expose them and then careful planning to fit the new works in and around them.
Working closely with the statutory authorities and service providers proved key to the success of this project. Traffic Management was employed to provide a safe working environment and planned in conjunction with Coventry CC to ensure minimal disruption to the busy road. Traffic sensitive hours were employed to ensure rush hour traffic was not affected meaning works had to be timed meticulously to ensure the road could be re-opened daily. Movement of an existing splitter island and new pedestrian dropped crossings were also included.
