Wolverhampton Interchange Bus Station – Bus Impact Deterrent Works
Works were required to install new impact deterrent hoops and bollards at Wolverhampton Interchange as buses on pulling in / out of the passenger bays were catching the glazing panels and damaging them. Glazing was specially ordered from Sweden and costly in time and money to replace plus the risk to the station users was high.
The key challenge was to install the impact deterrent measures whilst keeping the station operational, buses were entering and exiting the station constantly. Only 2 bays were allowed to be closed at any one time so a robust programme which had to be achieved and good communication with both the station manager and bus operating companies was crucial. Bridge Construction planned and managed the work to the hour every day ensuring all key stakeholders were kept informed as works progressed. Good signage and traffic management was employed to ensure all drivers and passengers were kept safe and fully aware of the works progressing.
