This project involved the demolition (in two halves) and rebuilding of Volvo UK training and development centre whilst the site was still in operation by the client. Our works involved the construction of RC pile caps and foundation beams, internal drainage and services, external drainage and services into existing infrastructure, reconstruction and extension of existing car park, ducting for lighting and comms, external block paving and installation of new street furniture.
The site was identified to contain buried walls and floors of cellars dating back to the Georgian Period so a full-time Archaeologist was on site with a watching brief to survey and document anything that was uncovered during the construction process.
Enabling works were also completed prior to the main contract and during the contract period to facilitate the continued use of the existing building. Including late nights and weekends to maintain full access to the operational section. Phase 1 of the works was completed on programme in July 2017 for the client to move into the new building prior to the commencement of phase 2 involving storm water attenuation, interceptor and car park extension including concrete hardstanding areas and hard landscaped main entrance.
